In response to the UK school lockdown, the YPTE has put in place a series of free-to-download home teaching packs. Created by experts and an experienced Education Officer, these packs will help parents who are looking for quality education material, easy to deliver at home.

Each pack will contain key learning materials, along with suggestions for activities that children can do to reinforce their learning.

TotalEnergies in the UK has been the proud sponsor of the YPTE since 2006. In 2019, TotalEnergies launched a new partnership with YPTE, providing free Online Lesson Plans for all UK primary school teachers. Since its launch, 77.000 plans have been downloaded, which is enough to reach about 2.3 million children across the UK. The YPTE is now producing packs for parents to use at home rather than materials for teachers to use in schools.

Ladislas Paszkiewicz, Chair of TotalEnergies in the UK said, “In these challenging times, we’re happy to work with the YPTE to quickly start producing learning packs for parents to use from home. We hope that it helps families and encourages children to keep exploring science and the environment.”

Peter Littlewood, Director of YPTE said, “We know that the days might be seeming very long now that children are at home all day with their parents. So we want to provide parents with some ideas for inspiring their kids to think about the natural world - things that the whole family can enjoy doing - that help to restore the link with nature. We have plans for lots more and there will be a new pack released every Friday until the school closures end.”

The Young People’s Trust for the Environment

The Young People’s Trust for the Environment (YPTE) is a registered charity that aims to create a better future by inspiring young people to look after our world. We provide a huge range of free information on our website, which is written for young people and teachers, but also useful to adults wanting to find out more about key environmental issues. These include an expanding range of educational videos and lesson plans for use in classrooms. Since September 2015, YPTE’s downloadable lesson plans, which are regularly recommended to teachers by the Department for Education, have reached over 4.1 million young people in classrooms across the UK and beyond. Around 250,000 pages of environmental information are downloaded from our website every month. We also work in schools, providing free presentations on environmental issues. ypte.org.uk
